Rensselaer Lally M.S. in Business Analytics Student Wins Best Visualization in SeeClickFix Competition
Anqi (Angie) Wu ’14, a Master of Science in Business Analytics student at the Rensselaer Lally School of Management, won the Best Visualization prize for her “Views by Source. East” entry in the SeeClickFix Competition on Kaggle.com.
This two-month global competition, held this past fall, features prizes for predictive and non-predictive (visualization) entries that use a provided data set of 311 issues from four cities to solve problems.
311 is a tool by which citizens can notify their city or government of concerns that they feel should be fixed or changed, and allows for citizens to vote and add comments, further informing government of high priority issues.
The visualization entries in this competition transformed the data set into information points plotted on a map, displayed text, or another creative way to represent the information. SeeClickFix leverages crowdsourcing and a customized CRM system to help facilitate public and government solutions.
